Putting Forgiveness Into Practice

To be released from sin or offense, Jesus told us in the Holy Scriptures that we must forgive one another. Jesus had showed the disciples forgiveness through His life practices. Jesus had done a model prayer that is written in Matthew chapter 6. In the verse 12 we see in the model prayer Jesus said “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” To show how important forgiveness is, after praying, Jesus started to teach about forgiveness in Matthew 6: 14- 15 “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” This goes to show that forgiveness benefits both parties as it releases both persons from the manipulation of the devil.

We can describe forgiveness as the letting go of some offense that had taken place against us. When we put Jesus Christ’s teaching into practice it removes stress, empower friendship, remove heaviness from the atmosphere around us, generate love and remove stumbling blocks. Not forgiving the one that offends us can create stumbling block because it hinders us spiritually, trap our prayers, block the revelations we need to move forward for success

Forgiveness can be best practiced by listening to our conscience. We all are at times in need of forgiveness. The same way we have need to be forgiven, the ones that offends us need their burden to be lifted and this can happen when we forgive them. We would never want to be the stumbling block to our own blessings.

I remember some years ago a lady was complaining about something bad another female did which was really wrong. When I got home and was thinking about what was said I went and laying down. I remember I heard the word ‘inhibition’ loud and clear I got up and went to get the dictionary. This gave me the understanding that the guilty person struggled to do and not to do before the act was done. The meaning that fit the situation INHIBITION | definition in the Cambridge English Dictionary They were not on talking terms so the person did the act with fear because she didn’t want to ask for permission. If we know how some people feel within themselves when they do something wrong we would quickly forgive them.

Putting the word of God in practice, knowing that our sins are forgiven will help us to forgive when it seems hard to do. When it becomes difficult to forgive pray about the situation fervently and ask for God’s intervention. Can we imagine Jesus who was among the people, He healed the sick, cast out demons, open blind eyes, let the cripple walk, open deaf ears and he was rejected by the same people who experience all these great miracles and he was rejected by them. The Bible says in Luke 23: 1 “And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King” From the human perspective it is a very hard to do good and experience rejection and lies being told on you. The scripture went on the express the heart of the people in the verse 18 “And they cried out all at once, saying, away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas” and verse 21 “But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him” At the end of all this ordeal that Jesus went through He said in verse 34 “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” Even unto the end Jesus continued to show forgiveness. This is valuable to our spiritual health.

Forgiveness by the mercies of God has grant us the gift of salvation. Forgiveness has caused us to know the truth which sets us free. Forgiveness have caused us to have favor with the Living God and mankind. Forgiveness take away stress, hatred, unkind thinking and give us peace and joy. Forgiveness help to maintain our open heaven and cause our prayers to be unstoppable.

Let us put forgiveness into practice by speaking it out. Say I forgive you even when you are by yourself and the memories of the problem keep coming back. Let forgiveness be the primary focus of pleasing God. Look at your benefit from the act of forgiving others. Let our forgiveness break the stronghold of the enemy so we can experience miracles and healing in our lives.
